A facilitated, carefully prepared and supported process where the sexually addicted individual provides his or her partner with a fully honest account of his or her history of acting out behaviors.

Helping couples who are dealing with sexual betrayal navigate the process of getting to, going through, and healing after Disclosure is a complex process, demanding a high level of skill, wisdom, adaptability, and structure on the part of you, the therapist.

Relational Recovery Disclosure Prep Manual
Who is it for:
If you are new to doing Disclosure, this manual will give you an enormous amount of information, tools and support as you learn to take clients through the steps. If you are experienced at doing Disclosure, but are looking for new ideas and tools to help you refine your process and better equip clients, this manual is full of tips, resources and information to help with that too. This manual can be used to support Disclosures done in individual private practice, a group practice or a counseling center setting.

Nothing is quite so helpful as seeing an example. The sample Disclosure document provides you and your clients with a model for an appropriate Disclosure document, giving the addicted client a guide to follow and helping the betrayed partner know more fully what to expect.

If you are working in a group practice, a counseling center or a robust private practice, the Disclosure Prep Workshop Kit can provide you with a way to streamline the preparation process and move couples through Disclosure in a more systematic, informed and empowered way. Designed to be delivered in 3.5 hours to 3-10 couples at a time, the Disclosure Prep Workshop facilitates and simplifies the process for you and your clients.

Michelle Mays received her Master’s in Counseling in 2001 in Seattle, Washington where she then opened a private practice focused on helping those struggling with sexual addiction, trauma and relationship issues. In 2005, she crossed the country and moved back to Northern Virginia where she opened a private practice in Leesburg. One of Michelle’s passions to is educate and train other counselors to become excellent providers of care and healing for clients. In 2011 Michelle founded the Center for Relational Recovery, a counseling and training center focused on providing leading edge treatment to sex addicts, partners of sex addicts, trauma survivors, and those struggling with relationship issues.
The Center for Relational Recovery is grounded in the belief that all change happens in relationship and that our attachments to others are both the most meaningful and at times the most challenging parts of our lives. Our programs are grounded in a relational attachment-based model that leads to transformed lives and relationships.
Michelle is a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist and Supervisor trained under Dr. Patrick Carnes. She is also trained in Post Induction Therapy by Pia Mellody for the treatment of relational trauma and is in the process of completing her certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. Michelle is a registered Supervisor with the state of Virginia and is Licensed as a Professional Counselor in both Virginia and Washington DC.
