Sexual anorexia is a sexual disorder in which the person avoids having sex or being sexual. If not rooted in any medical or physical issues, sexual anorexia can at times be about a deep sense of fear associated with being sexual. This may or may not be conscious for the person. Often individuals struggling with sexual anorexia will report simply feeling a lack of interest in sex. However, when more deeply examined they can find that underneath the lack of interest is fear of some sort and the avoidance is a way of protecting themselves from encountering this fear.
At the Center for Relational Recovery we help you explore the underlying causes of sexual avoidance, helping you connect to your deeper feelings and to resolve any unhealed wounds or fears that may be blocking your connection to your sexual desire. We work with both individuals and couples to help restore sexual health.
